This is a story of perseverance and dedication. Formed in 1989 by only 20 farmers, the Asociacion Barillense de Agricultores (ASOBAGRI) faced adversity from the very beginning. The first few years were marred by violence and financial destitution due to civil war in Guatemala, causing many cooperative members to abandon their land and flee. Since then, however, ASOBAGRI has grown and now counts on some 1200 members.
